Ethel

Ethel ​is a native of Greenwood, MS. She has over 25+ years of experience with children of all ages. She enjoys being around children and enabling them to advance in growth and development. She is a loving, honest, & patient wife and mother of 3 wonderful children ages 27, 25, and 22. Also, she came from a large family of 8 siblings, so she has been a babysitter most of her life because there were always so many children around. She has even had the privilege to assist other family members with a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces & great-nephews, including twins and triplets. She has always been the go-to person in the family.

Ethel seeks to go above and beyond by attending to each child in her care, promoting them to achieve and develop to their full potential. During the past 20 years, she has worked in community schools (private and public), daycares, churches, Boys and Girls Club, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, & AmeriCorps. She worked as a D.A.R.E. Instructor (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) with D.A.R.E. America in the Middle and Elementary schools throughout the communities for 4 consecutive years, (a 10 weeks program every calendar school year, 7 periods every Thursday in a classroom setting, teaching up to 25 students on lesson such as peer pressure, norms, eco system (identifying friends and family they can trust- a go to person), preference, choices, consequence, bullying, different behaviors (assertive, passive, aggressive, etc).

She has volunteered as a Counselor at the Mississippi Department of Rehabilitation, working with people with disabilities, evaluating/testing, training, counseling, and preparing them for the workforce. Also, assisted in conducting classes on employee ability skills. She has volunteered as a Social Worker for the Mississippi Department of Human Services, assisting and conducting client interviews, contact with foster children, investigations, and case staffing. She volunteered with the Domestic Violence Coordinator at the City of Greenwood Police Department in Greenwood, MS, investigating cases that involved physical abuse victims, neglect, and/or malnutrition of vulnerable adults (Maltreatment).

She attended Nursing School at MDCC, but went on to earn an Associate Degree of Arts, and most recently, she has earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Work. She completed her social work internship in Care Management at UAMS in Little Rock, assisting people with resources for different illnesses and disorders. Mrs. Knight has also received her Arkansas State License of Social Work in 2016. Nevertheless, Mrs. Knight has her state, county, and city licenses to own and operate an accredited, quality, and professional childcare facility in the state of Arkansas. Mrs. Knight also teaches 2nd and 3rd grade level bible classes and the Women’s Sunday Morning Bible School at church. A community helper is certainly who and what she is. Mrs. Knight has learned a lot over the past 25+ years and possesses a great deal of experience and passion for working with children.
